An Intimate & Colourful Autumn Wedding in Toronto, Ontario

When it came to wedding themes, Alyse and Taylor didn’t necessarily have one in mind. “Colours were a defining component of our wedding,” Alyse explains. “I was originally inspired by word I had seen done by Philippa Craddock, a London-based floral who does all of the florals for the Royal Family.” With that inspiration, the pair surrounded their occasion with florals in shades of deep burgundies, deep pinks and aubergines, with gold as an accent when it came to non-floral wedding decor.  With 60 guests in attendance, Alyse and Taylor treated them to a decadent menu that featured everything from butter poached lobster to filets with bone marrow butter. “With food being such a high priority, having a wedding at a top restaurant was a no brainer,” the newlyweds share. “Sassafraz had a great selection with elevated options to pick from.” While food was paramount, the two both happily agree that their favourite moment of the day happened pre-ceremony. “We decided to sign our marriage license prior to the ceremony,” Alyse recalls. “Doing this privately beforehand made it feel a bit more intimate and in that moment, the act of getting married was just about Taylor and me and our commitment to each other.”
