An Intimate Woodland Wedding in Manitoba

Cass and Josh’s love of hiking inspired their wedding day theme. “We often dream of living off-grid in the woods so our ideal wedding was an intimate ceremony in the forest with lots of foliage and tall trees,” Cass shares. “After looking at forest weddings on Pinterest we decided that we liked the look of lush greenery with burgundy and touches of dusty blue.” In keeping with their motif, the two also included natural-looking elements such as a rustic chairs and a wooden arch that was built in Josh’s father’s backyard “My dad and I built the art using hand tools that go back three generations in my family,” Josh explains. “Cass built, stained and hand-painted the welcome sign and easel. The arch and sign really came to life once the flowers were added. It felt so good to finally see all of our hard work come together.”

Details aside, for Cass and Josh it was the photo shoot at the Exchange District that made their day all the more memorable. “The photo shoot was one of the highlights of our day,” the two agree. “That time was really special because we were able to slow down, soak in the bliss of getting married and enjoy the quiet moments we spent together.”
