It’s been nine years since Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in a lavish Royal Wedding full of pomp and ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London. We still get swept away looking back at photos of that historic day and really it ticked all the boxes of the ultimate dream wedding. *Sigh.* It was just all so glamourous.

Almost a decade later, Kate Middleton’s royal bridal style remains absolutely iconic and the influence can still be seen today…even with designers presenting Spring 2021 collections, the Kate effect is strong. On her wedding day, the world fell head-over-heels for the Duchess of Cambridge. Her style, warmth and newlywed glow captured our hearts and we can definitely credit her for making the royal family hip again. We thought it would be fun to look back on the day and highlight six of her biggest royal wedding style trends which are still going strong today. Happy Anniversary William & Kate!

Tiaras
Kate’s something borrowed was a Cartier Halo tiara from the Queen herself. She made a bridal style statement with the dazzling piece and put this classic princess accessory back on the wedding-must list. As seen on the runway at Inbal Dror Fall 2020.

Sleeves
Kate singlehandedly brought sleeves back to bridal in 2011 and designers are still having a love affair with them. For Spring 2021 there are sleeves of all shapes, sizes and lengths—cap, wrist-length, blouson, balloon, bracelet length and more. This dress from the Morilee by Madeline Gardner Spring 2021 collection clearly demonstrates how the Kate effect lives on a decade later!

White Bridesmaid Dresses
Pippa Middelton almost stole the show from sister Kate at the Royal Wedding in her slinky white McQueen dress. The trend of white bridesmaids is one that became super hot in 2011 and continues to rule in 2020 as seen in this real wedding.

Easy Hair
Kate’s hair was shiny, gorgeous, bouncy and beautiful. She had a little wave, a lot of shine and wore it styled into an effortless demi-chignon—the look is young, fresh and sophisticated and still a top choice for brides today as seen in this real wedding.

Dramatic Veils
When Kate stepped out of her Rolls Royce at Westminster Abbey she was radiant beneath her waist-length veil, the perfect accessory for a princess. Long, trailing veils have been a mainstay in bridal fashion ever since and we love the drama of this most regal accessory—this one from Justin Alexander’s Spring 2021 collection is spectacular!

Delicate Bouquets
Kate carried a delicate bouquet comprised of sweet William and lily of the valley. The size was perfect and the flowers she chose were pretty and romantic. Tiny bouquet sizes have become a mainstay since the 2011 Royal Wedding, the perfect choice for brides who want something that doesn’t overwhelm, but rather compliments their dress.
