Wedding Day Been Postponed? How To Celebrate At Home On Your Original Wedding Date

You have done the work and rescheduled your original 2020 wedding date, but shouldn’t you do something special to mark the day that should have been? We think it’s a wonderful idea to do something special at home to celebrate on that day—have some flowers delivered, enjoy a great meal and a champagne toast, savour a sweet spread or mini wedding cake.

Rebecca Chan, owner and lead planner of Toronto’s Rebecca Chan Wedding & Events has tapping into this idea with her newly launched White Glove Wedding Delivery Service. “We are helping a lot of couples with rescheduling and cancellations, and we hear about the heartbreak firsthand,” Chan shares. “Planning a wedding can already be a stressful and emotion-filled process, and to add a layer of global pandemic and rescheduling is a lot for some people to handle. It’s a tough time to be planning a wedding and we feel for our couples!”

Chan says though most couples are choosing to postpone instead of cancel, because their deposits for venues and vendors are not refundable. “Many couples have been planning their wedding day for over a year, sometimes two years, and now are having to change the date,” she says. “Other couples have sick grandparents who may not be able to attend next year, or they had their heart set on a special date. Our clients who were in this position still wanted to do something special, but they weren’t sure what.”

For all these reasons, Chan and her team came up with the concept of the White Glove Wedding Delivery Service. They have curated a collection of packages with other wedding vendors offering ways for couples to celebrate their planned 2020 wedding date. Offerings start at $315 and include the Private Celebration Ceremony for a couple wanting a special date night. For anyone wanting to actually tie the knot there is the Symbolic Elopement Ceremony with a virtual officiant. “We’ll send flowers, bubbly and sweets to make the occasion extra special,” Chan details. “For couples wanting to have a dinner together, the Premium Dinner For Two set up is the ultimate indulgence which includes a catered meal and a beautiful Instagram-worthy tablescape set-up”

In a time of uncertainty, we love that couples and wedding vendors are getting creative with celebrations! Love truly does rule.
